I was born in North Carolina. I have lived in Illinois, California, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan and Minnesota. All of this travel was because of my need to grow, learn and enhance my worldview. I have worked as a teacher, literacy librarian, children’s librarian, university librarian, university professor, volunteer programs coordinator, diversity and organizational management consultant, deputy director, director of libraries, student local pastor and fulltime local Pastor (UMC). I have served as a literacy tutor, board member for literacy organization, state library agencies, nonprofit center and the Girl Scouts.
In St. Cloud, MN I served on The St. Cloud State University President’s Community Advisory Council, United Way Board, Create CommUNITY, United Ministry in Higher Education, Moving Forward with Diversity Task Force, Reading Room and the Community Foundation Women’s Fund. I served on the Minnesota Commission on Religion and Race, ServeMN Board, the Committee Advocating Racial Justice (CARJ) at United Theological Seminary, the Minnesota Colleges and University Diversity Council and The Executive Board of Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Janesville, MN.
I moved back home in retirement to North Carolina. At present I am retired Local Pastor of the Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church continuing my passion and love for God. Ever present in my life now is the words from Esther 1:14: For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? – Esther 4:14, NIV
My husband, Charles (and our deceased cat, Chico) live in Holly Ridge, NC.
