Faith Harbor’s Early Response Team (E.R.T.) was formed in June 2015, to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. This ministry is a collaborative effort by United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) and the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR). These trained members of the E.R.T. feel God’s blessing as they undertake the mission to assist disaster survivors with a caring Christian presence.
The E.R.T. fills a specific need in the early days after a disaster. The E.R.T. with their caring presence will respond by providing hope and with hands on skills. They will prepare their homes for future repairs or rebuilding. Example of the efforts include: removing damaged walls and floors, placing tarps on leaking roofs to prevent further damage, removing yard debris and furniture. It reassures survivors that the church and community cares about them.
Training for the E.R.T. Ministry takes about 4 hours of classroom work and instruction will be given on how to assess repairs and complete the work that needs to be done on site. If you have an interest in becoming a member of this mission, please contact the church office.
